Bansuri South Africa is curated by Anton van Rensburg, a musician exploring the voice of the bamboo flute across African and Indian landscapes. This site is not a personal showcase, but a small resource for anyone curious about the bansuri. It exists to introduce the instrument and spark interest in its gentle yet powerful sound. If the bansuri speaks to you, this space is for you.
Having studied the bansuri through the traditions of Indian classical music, Anton also shares the instrument’s sound in local settings — from meditative gatherings to creative collaborations.

His journey into Indian classical music began with immersive study in 2017 and 2019 at Vrindaban Gurukul in Mumbai, the school of the legendary Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia.
During 2020 and 2021 he completed all certification levels via ISM Circle, the Indian music online learning hub. He expresses deep gratitude to the Chaurasia family for sharing this legacy.

He continues his studies today — both online and in person — with senior disciples of Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, following the guru-shishya tradition.
For those interested in a more detailed biography, album releases, or current projects, you are warmly invited to explore Bamboo Alchemy or Anton’s artist pages on Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube.
Make every note you play, sound beautiful.
